How to Write a Successful Abstract

With Alessandro Grandi (Seregno, Italy), a top-scoring abstract presenter at CX 2024.

The CX Aortic Live team spoke with one of CX 2024’s top-scoring aortic abstract presenters, Alessandro Grandi (Seregno, Italy) about the abstract submission process and the benefits of having your work featured on an abstract programme.

Dr. Grandi presents his abstract “Stability of steerable sheaths for branched Endovascular aortic repair: A bench comparison” at the 46th annual Charing Cross International Symposium on 25 April 2024 in London, United Kingdom.

1. Why did you choose a CX event to submit your abstract?

I chose to submit my abstract to a CX event because CX is one of the, if not the best vascular surgery congress, bringing together renowned vascular surgeons from all over the world. It is a great opportunity to be exposed to different ways of doing things, to network with different professionals and see many friends.

2. What are the benefits of entering the abstract program at a conference such as CX or CX Aortic?

The main benefit of entering the abstract programme is to be able to present your work at a great congress and have discussions about it which may spark ideas for new studies or different takes on the presented study.

3. Do you have any advice for physicians or researchers writing an abstract for the first time?

Be as concise as possible. State the purpose or objective of your study, deliver your results in a clear manner without interpretation and conclude with what can be extrapolated from the study.

4. Are there any special considerations to take into account when presenting an abstract?

Your presentation has to be on point. Lots of figures and very few words so that the audience can listen to what you have to say and is not distracted by having to read on the screen
